Workers Ratify New Deal With Spartan Stores

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Warehouse, transportation and maintenance workers at Spartan Stores’ distribution center here have ratified a new three-year contract, Spartan said Tuesday.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Warehouse, transportation and maintenance workers at Spartan Stores’ distribution center here have ratified a new three-year contract, Spartan said Tuesday.

The local bargaining unit associates, represented by Teamsters Local 406, were previously working under an approved one-year contract extension of a five-year labor agreement that expired in October 2011.

"We are very pleased to have ratified the labor agreement with our warehouse and transportation associates," Dennis Eidson, Spartan's president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "This demonstrates our consistent focus on strong labor relations to provide associates with quality compensation and benefit packages."
