Kraft Foods is voluntarily recalling 242,000 cases of original flavor boxed macaroni and cheese because the contents may contain pieces of metal, the company said on Tuesday.
"Kraft has received eight consumer contacts about this product from the impacted line within this range of code dates and no injuries have been reported. We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed," the Northfield, Ill., manufacturer said in a media release.
The products have best when used by dates of Sept. 18, 2015, through Oct. 11, 2015, with the production code "C2" printed below the date, and include a 7.25 oz. box, 3-packs of 7.25 oz. boxes, and a 4- and 5-packs of shrink-wrapped 7.25 oz. boxes.
The product was distributed to the U.S., Puerto Rico, as well as certain South American and Caribbean countries, Kraft said.
