January 1, 2018
The National Mango Board (NMB) will be hosting their second annual Mango Food Safety Conference on Thursday, Mar. 6, 2014, starting at 8 a.m. at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown at 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia. Attendance to this annual conference is complimentary and industry members of all levels of the mango supply chain are encouraged to join. Topic themes for the NMB’s second annual Mango Food Safety Conference are focused on food safety laws and initiatives such as the Food Safety Modernization Act and Produce Traceability Initiative; providing insight on how these affect the mango industry and tips on how to implement changes in the supply chain. “Providing outstanding quality mangos that consumers will purchase again and again requires a commitment to safety and quality. When planning projects and programs, mango food safety initiatives are always top of mind and a priority for the NMB and mango industry,” says William Watson, NMB executive director. Keynote speakers will also provide attendees with information on the high risk areas and suggested solutions for the mango industry, recall management (crisis response), and much more. The following keynote topics will be discussed during the Mango Food Safety Conference:
Overview of Food Safety Modernization
Produce Standards, Supplier Verification and How to Create a Food Safety Culture
Mango Food Safety Tools and Resources
Recall Situation – How to Handle the Media in an Outbreak
Product Recall and Product Contamination Insurance
Produce Traceability Initiative
This conference will follow the NMB’s first board meeting of the year where NMB board members will receive a review and wrap-up of 2013 programs, program updates for 2014 and participate in a 2015 brainstorming session. Board members will also be trained on how to execute a media crisis and speak to the media during Crisis Training, as well as take part in a Strategic Planning Session. The board’s strategic plan, which is developed by the board members, is re-visited every three years to make sure the organization is still working toward the right goals.
