Aldi fans in Ohio, California and Florida are celebrating three new stores, all of which opened Thursday.
The discount grocer's new locations are: 89 Tallmadge Rd. in Kent, Ohio; 2680 S. Ferdon Blvd. in Crestview, Florida; and 28230 Clinton Keith Rd. in Murrieta, California.
“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for six years running,” said Tom Cindel, Moreno Valley regional VP for Aldi, in a statement. “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Murrieta and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”
More than 1,000 new Aldi stores have opened throughout America over the past decade, and last month the discount grocer revealed plans to add a total of 120 new locations in 2023.
This growth plan will bring Aldi’s store count nationwide to more than 2,400 by the end of the year.
“While inflation is undoubtedly driving unprecedented demand for affordable groceries, we know that once customers experience the Aldi difference, they keep shopping with us, even when the economy improves,” said Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi U.S., in a statement. “Our growth is led by our customers, and they continue to want more Aldi locations coast to coast.”
Aldi’s 2023 expansion plans come on the heels of a banner year for the discount grocer. In 2022, Aldi opened and remodeled 139 stores.
Founded in 1961, Aldi recently took the top spot as the most-trusted discount and small-format grocer, according to the 2023 Most Trusted Grocery Retailers in America list conducted by market research firm BrandSpark International in partnership with Winsight Grocery Business and Newsweek.
