Aldi said its ongoing growth would result in an expansion of its warehouse and an associated 60 new jobs in Hinckley, Ohio.
State and local economic development authorities this week approved a six-year tax credit to support the expansion, which includes new equipment and machinery at the facility.
“As Aldi continues to grow, we’re excited to expand employment opportunities at our Hinckley distribution center, and we’re proud to be an employer of choice in the state of Ohio and across the U.S.,” said Corey Stucker, VP of Aldi’s division in Hinckley, a suburb about 25 miles south of Cleveland. “We’re committed to job growth across the country and look forward to continuing to serve our local Ohio communities in the years to come.”
Aldi U.S., based in Batavia, Ill., is in the midst of plans to expand to 2,500 stores by the end of 2022, and is adding 25,000 jobs to serve its estimated 100 million customers each month. It is also expanding the size and assortment of its existing fleet.
JobsOhio, Medina County Economic Development Corp. and Team NEO worked together to ensure that Aldi chose to grow its Hinckley location versus other areas it currently has a presence in.
“Northeast Ohio is ideally located to provide quick access to market, which equates to attractive financial advantages for companies such as Aldi,” said Team NEO CEO Bill Koehler. “Along with JobsOhio and MCEDC, we look forward to supporting Aldi's ongoing success in the region.”
