Aldi’s nationwide expansion continues Thursday as it readies for a new store opening in Delaware as well as a reopening of a Florida location hit by last year’s Hurricane Ian.

The discount grocer’s new store will be located at 696 N. Dupont Blvd. in Milford, Delaware.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for five years running,” said Jeff Baehr, Frederick regional VP for Aldi, in a statement. “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Milford and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping."

This will not be the only Delaware location to open this month. A new store is planned at 26684 Centerview Drive in Millsboro, Delaware, on Feb. 23, according to the grocery retailer’s website.

On Thursday, the Batavia, Illinois-based grocery retailer will host a grand re-opening of its Venice, Florida store, an area which was damaged by Hurricane Ian. Located at 1687 S. Tamiami Trail, the store will re-open its doors at 8:30 a.m.

“Aldi is proud to have assisted with hurricane recovery and charitable work over the last four months, like packing thousands of disaster relief boxes, providing financial support to hurricane relief funds and donating truckloads of products,” the discount grocer said in a statement. “With this, Aldi is thrilled to begin servicing the Venice community once again.”

Aldi’s growth in Florida will continue later this month as it will open a new store in Callaway, according to the discount grocer’s website.

Last year, Aldi focused its footprint expansion in the Southeast with new store openings as well as the opening of a regional distribution center in Alabama to fuel its Southeastern growth. Aldi took WGB’s top spot for its new store openings map last month.

Founded in 1961, Aldi also recently took the top spot as the most-trusted discount and small-format grocer, according to the 2023 Most Trusted Grocery Retailers in America list conducted by market research firm BrandSpark International in partnership with Winsight Grocery Business and Newsweek.
