Amazon is going big for this year’s Prime Day, bringing the promotion’s deep discounts and incentives to Whole Foods Market stores nationwide for the first time.
From July 11 to 17, Prime members who spend $10 at Whole Foods will receive a $10 credit on their Amazon account to use on Prime Day, which runs from 3 p.m. (ET) July 16 to 3 a.m. (ET) July 18. Whole Foods stores will feature discounts on select products, such as organic strawberries, Allegro bagged coffee and Honey Nut Cheerios, and Prime members who use grocery delivery from Whole Foods for the first time via Prime Now will receive $10 off their order, plus a $10 credit toward a future order.
“This is Whole Foods Market’s first Prime Day, and we’re taking the shopping experience to the next level,” said John Mackey, co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods Market. “Between our exclusive deals and special Prime Day offers, you’re not going to want to miss out on these savings.”
Amazon is also offering Prime Rewards Visa card members 10% back on up to a total of $400 in purchases when they shop at Whole Foods from July 14 to 17.
The 36-hour Prime Day event is expected to generate about $3.4 billion in sales, according to a report from Coresight Research. That's a 40% increase over last year’s event, which raked in about $2.4 billion in sales.
In addition to Prime Day benefits, Amazon this year launched a year-round Prime member savings program at Whole Foods Market and Whole Food Market 365 stores, which was made available nationwide in June. The program offers Prime members discounts on popular products and an additional 10% off on sale items, as well as one-hour delivery via Prime Now in 19 cities and 5% back on Whole Foods purchases when using the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card.
