The newest Amazon Fresh grocery store at 4031 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn, Ill., opened its doors today, welcoming shoppers with modern technology such as the Amazon Dash Cart and affordable old-fashioned romance in the form of 24 roses for $19.99 ahead of Valentine’s Day. The approximately 35,000-square-foot location marks the third Amazon Fresh store to open in Illinois, joining the Seattle-based grocer’s Schaumburg and Naperville stores.

“The village of Oak Lawn is thrilled to welcome Amazon Fresh as the main anchor at the newly redeveloped Oak Lawn Commons,” said Oak Lawn Mayor Sandra Bury in a statement. “The store brings hundreds of much needed jobs, high-quality food, low prices and innovative convenience features. We are excited for the energy and excitement it will bring to this gateway into Oak Lawn.”

The new store offers Amazon Fresh’s trademark “seamless grocery shopping experience,” “consistently low prices for all,” and free, same-day delivery and pickup for Prime members. The Amazon Dash Cart lets customers skip the checkout line, while the in-store Alexa features serve as an in-store directory of sorts.

Opening day means opening deals for Amazon Fresh customers. In addition to a double-dozen roses for $19.99, other opening deals such as $16.99 per pound USDA Prime ribeye steak, $19.99 per pound lobster tail, and $2.89 for Fresh brand Valentine’s Day mini cupcakes are also in-store.

The new store also features an assortment of national brands, high-quality produce, meat and seafood, as well as a range of prepared foods made fresh in-store every day, from fresh-baked bread and made-to-order pizzas to rotisserie chickens and hot sandwiches like brisket panini.

Additionally, the Oak Lawn Amazon Fresh store offers 365 by Whole Foods Market organics, plus national brands such as Coca-Cola and Kraft Mac and Cheese; local brands such as S. Rosen’s breads, Oberweis Dairy, and Lillie’s Q BBQ sauce; regional favorites like Duke’s Mayo, Ellenos Yogurt and Boston Chowda; and new Amazon exclusive brands like Fresh and Cursive, its line of private label wines.

The new Oak Lawn Amazon Fresh joins area grocery neighbors Pete’s Fresh Market, Target and Jewel-Osco in serving the Chicagoland community. Next up for Amazon Fresh? Its fourth location in the greater Chicago area—Bloomingdale, Ill. Local news media are reporting that the store, at 404 Army Trail Road is opening next month. Amazon Fresh declined WGB’s request to confirm the opening date.

The Seattle-based Amazon did confirm that additional Amazon Fresh locations in Long Beach, Calif.; Woodland Park, N.J.; Seattle; and Bellevue, Wash., are underway.
