LOS ANGELES -- Arden Group here, parent company of Gelson's and Mayfair Markets, has sold all the outstanding shares of GPS Pool Supply to Pioneer Chlor Alkali Investments. The selling price was approximately $3.4 million. The sale leaves Arden as an operator of supermarkets only -- eight Gelson's and four Mayfair Markets. The company sold Telautograph Corp., its communications equipment subsidiary, earlier this year. Selling the two subsidiaries was designed to allow the company to better delineate the results of its supermarket operations to investors, potential investors and securities analysts, market observers told SN.
