BJ’s Wholesale Club is capitalizing on its value-is-king model as the Marlborough, Massachusetts-based wholesale club continues its pace of new club openings.
BJ’s Wholesale Club, which opened its 47th location in New York last Friday, will soon open its seventh Ohio location. The new Ohio warehouse will be located at 5900 N. Hamilton Rd. in New Albany, Ohio, which is in the greater Columbus area.
The Marlborough, Massachusetts-based new club in New York is at 399 Tarrytown Road in White Plains. The 100,592-square-foot club brings BJ's club count to 232 stores across 18 states, BJ’s said Monday.
“We are expanding our footprint into new and existing markets with success,” said Bob Eddy, president and CEO of BJ’s, in an August statement regarding the club’s second quarter earnings. “Our business model is designed to work well in the current consumer environment where value is king, and we believe we are well-positioned for growth by doing what we do best—delivering great value to our members.”
As part of its expansion plans, the wholesale club also opened its first location in Indiana last month.
“Our outlook on the business is strong given the sustained strength in our grocery business and our gains in market share,” Laura Felice, EVP and CFO of BJ's Wholesale Club, told analysts during the club’s latest earnings call in August.
The wholesale club earlier this month selected Capital One Financial as the issuer of the wholesaler’s co-branded Mastercard, which is set to launch early 2023.
“When we can deliver incredible value with a partner who is the absolute best at what they do, our members win,” said Bill Werner, EVP of strategy and development at BJ’s Wholesale Club, in a statement.
