Wooster, Ohio-based Buehler's Fresh Foods said that Mike Davidson has been promoted from EVP to president and CEO, effective Jan. 2, 2022. Davidson succeeds Dan Shanahan, who announced his retirement earlier this month.

Davidson has served as executive vice president of store operations and, more recently, sales and marketing in his six years at Buehler's, according to a company news release. Before joining Buehler's, he was SVP of store operations at Price Chopper in Schenectady, N.Y.; Davidson also previously held VP roles at Ahold Delhaize-owned Tops Markets. He currently is chairman of the Ohio Grocers Association.

"We couldn’t be more proud in naming Mike as president/CEO," the retiring Shanahan said. "He’s had a significant impact on the success of our company and our culture. We are confident that he has the leadership skills to take Buehler’s to the next level."

Employee-owned Buehler's—which in 2020 received the Ohio Grocers Association's Pinnacle Award, the association's highest award for overall retail excellence—operates 14 grocery stores, including a newly opened location in Galion, Ohio.
