Cub has signed up with Cognira to use its AI promotion solution to help manage its promotions, the companies announced in a release.

Stillwater, Minn.-based Cub, which has 80 grocery stores and pharmacies in Minnesota and Illinois, aims to modernize its promotion management process with a solution that can better plan, manage, analyze and optimize promotions.

“Consumers are consistently searching for promotions that are most relevant to their purchasing habits, and our job as their grocer is to bring those promotions to them as efficiently and effectively as possible,” Luke Anderson, chief information officer for Cub, said in a release. “Working with Cognira and their centralized solution for promotion planning, optimization and personalization will give us the ability to achieve that vision.”

Cognira’s configurable solution offers the ability to analyze historical performance, embed workflows and approvals, provide AI insights that align with a business, and forecast promotional demand across all products. It also addresses the entire lifecycle of promotion planning across merchandising and marketing organizations for a retailer, including supporting in-store discounts and weekly circulars, online advertisements and customer-targeted offers.

The Atlanta, Ga.-based company’s value-driven promotion management solutions were created by domain experts and data scientists.

Six months ago, Cub announced that it had revamped its online grocery ordering process to better meet the needs of customers. It now allows customers to use their MyCub rewards card to access exclusive promotions as well as preloaded savings and digital coupons on hundreds of products.

Cub is also working with another technology company, CitrusAd, to provide a more personalized online shopping experience. Through CitrusAd’s e-commerce advertising platform it aims to identify to suppliers shopper preferences and serve relevant sponsored product ads, optimizing marketing campaigns and reducing ad waste.
