Dollar General is enhancing its information technology department by creating a new VP, chief technology officer position and appointing a new VP, chief information security officer. 

The retailer has brought on Julie Elmore at its VP, chief technology officer. In this newly created role, Elmore will oversee application development, including merchandising systems, digital, store systems, supply chain and enterprise.

Elmore most recently was VP of optimization, fulfillment and logistic systems for Macy’s and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration in computer information systems and management from Mercer University.

Additionally, Dollar General has promoted Tom Ratz from within to fill the role of VP, chief information officer. In his new role, Ratz will lead the development of the company's IT security and access management systems.

Ratz has been with the company since 2007 and has moved up the ranks ever since. He holds an associate's degree in computer technology from Indiana Tech and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
