In a bid to enhance its product assortment with innovative items and expand its vendor pool, Dollar General is hosting an inaugural Innovation and Supplier Diversity Summit in April to pair potential new suppliers with respective buyers and category managers from the Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based retailer.
The event is designed for both new vendors and those that have not sold products to the company within the past 18 months in grocery, beauty, personal care, OTC/wellness and GM/nonfood categories.
The 14,321-store chain’s first Innovation and Supplier Diversity Summit is “part of Dollar General’s continual commitment to provide quality products at everyday low prices to our diverse consumer base,” said EVP and CMO Jason Reiser. “Having the right products to best meet our customers’ needs is a foundational cornerstone at Dollar General,” which has a presence in 44 states. As such, Reiser said the company is excited about the potential to meet new vendors and learn “about relevant products for our customers [while] expanding the number of unique and specialized offerings available in our stores.”
To apply, interested suppliers, companies and manufacturers may submit their product information through Feb. 20. Selected companies will be required to submit a $500 participation fee and will be notified via email by Efficient Collaborative Retail Marketing (ECRM) of the time, date and location of their meeting with a member of the Dollar General merchandising team.
