Dollar General Teams with DoorDash for Delivery
Delivery via DoorDash now available from more than 9,000 Dollar General stores. After piloting delivery through DoorDash at approximately 600 locations this summer, Dollar General now is offering the service at more than 9,000 stores across the country.
After a successful delivery trial this summer, Dollar General said it's now offering delivery of household essentials, including food, cleaning supplies and more, from more than 9,000 DG stores through a partnership with DoorDash.
Customers can order Dollar General items for same-day delivery—often in less than an hour—via the DoorDash marketplace online or through the delivery service's mobile app. No minimum order size is required; however, as part of a special promotion, customers can get 30% off their first Dollar General order of $20 or more through Nov. 24, 2021, using code DOLLAR.
Dollar General piloted delivery through DoorDash at approximately 600 rural and metropolitan locations this summer, the Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based retailer noted in a news release; the service is expected to expand to more than 10,000 locations by December. As of July 31, Dollar General operated 17,683 stores in 46 states.
"At Dollar General, we strive to make shopping hassle-free and affordable, and our partnership with DoorDash reiterates DG’s commitment to provide convenient and contactless options," Dollar General EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer Emily Taylor said in a statement. "We look forward to providing both existing and new customers with an even faster and more convenient way to experience all that DG has to offer," she added.
DoorDash Chief Revenue Officer Tom Pickett said the collaboration will give Dollar General shoppers "access to the everyday essentials they need at the affordable price points they have come to trust." In addition, given Dollar General's expansive and growing presence, including in underserved rural areas, its partnership with DoorDash expands the delivery platform's services "to areas that traditionally have not had access to same-day delivery."
