Earth Fare recently celebrated the grand opening of its 50th store in Steel Creek, N.C., with aggressive expansion plans slated for the coming years.

The wellness-focused retailer recently opened new stores in Wilmington, N.C., and Viera, Fla., and will focus its expansion in 2019 on Florida, with locations planned in Lutz, Boynton and downtown Orlando.

In addition to investing in new stores, the retailer has majorly remodeled many of its existing stores, with a full rebrand of stores in the Charlotte market set to go live this spring.

Frank Scorpiniti, president and CEO of Earth Fare, called the 50th store's opening an "exciting milestone," adding that the company's growth shows that "more communities are recognizing the crucial connection between clean, healthy food and longer, healthier, happier lives."

"It also allows us to have an employment environment that encourages rapid career advancement,” he said.

Following its popular Live Longer With Earth Fare campaign, the retailer has kept the momentum going by expanding its selection of plant-based products and stocking an array of CBD-enhanced items, including supplements and smoothie add-ins at its Heirloom Cafe.

Earth Fare is also known for its "Boot List," which bans hundreds of potentially harmful chemicals and ingredients from the food it carries.

Steele Creek is the North Carolina chain’s seventh store in the Charlotte market; its first store opened in Asheville in 1975.
