Food retailers are benefiting from connecting loyalty cards to airline and other travel-related rewards. In January, for instance, ShopRite, part of the Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative, Elizabeth, N.J., launched a travel-reward program with Continental Airlines, Houston. For every $2 consumers spend using their ShopRite PricePlus card, they earn one Continental OnePass mile. Shoppers must accumulate $500 to qualify and earn 250 miles once they do. The program runs through July 20. To enroll, shoppers must register their OnePass number and PricePlus club card at www.shoprite.com or at store courtesy counters. OnePass numbers can be obtained through an 800 number or the Continental Web site, www.continental.com/onepass.
