Chicago’s Go Grocer, a brick-and-mortar food retailer with ultrafast grocery delivery co-founded by Greg and Paul Stellatos, is growing—again. The grocery retailer will open its 17th location next month in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood at 1325 N. Wells St., Go Grocer told WGB on Friday.

“Chicagoans, by nature, are very supportive of local businesses and we’ve been very fortunate to be embraced with open arms,” Paul Stellatos said. “We maintain one of the strongest independent brands in Chicago and our delivery app continues to be the de facto option for locals.”

With other ultrafast grocery delivery coming to a stop, Go Grocer has kept its pace for growth, crediting its success to a focus on building from the store up rather than from the app down.

“We started by building our stores first, whereas these rapid delivery services, they built their app first,” Stellatos said.

The Wells Street location in Old Town will see some competition from Dom’s Kitchen & Market, which is set to open Nov. 1, at 1233 N. Wells St.

“As the average urban shopper continues to make less visits to big box grocery stores, Go Grocer continues to position itself successfully to capture a larger share of their wallet. We continue to show strong numbers on the strength of our omnichannel approach,” Stellatos told WGB.

With locations throughout several neighborhoods in Chicago, “we continue to stay bootstrapped. We are also opening a new store outside Chicago next month,” Stellatos said.
