A destination for bargain-seeking shoppers, Grocery Outlet will now offer on-demand grocery delivery from more than 398 locations across the country following a partnership with DoorDash, the Emeryville, California-based grocer said Monday.
Grocery Outlet shoppers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Nevada can order groceries on-demand via the DoorDash marketplace app or website, accessing all their grocery and household items, Grocery Outlet said in a statement.
The extreme-value grocery retailer, which reported last week second quarter earnings of $20.1 million—an increase of 2.3% compared to a year ago, serves more than 1.5 million shoppers each week and offers grocery items 40% to 70% below retail price. “As consumers are faced with record levels of inflation, our business is well-positioned to help them stretch their budgets, Grocery Outlet CEO Eric Lindberg said in a statement.
Looking to help shoppers save time and money, Lindberg said that in addition to bringing more of “our great products direct to consumers, our DoorDash partnership will help Grocery Outlet reach more customers with great prices during a time where every penny counts.”
All participating Grocery Outlet stores will be available on DashPass, DoorDash’s membership program that offers members $0 delivery fees from thousands of restaurants, grocery and convenience stores nationwide. DashPass members can enjoy these benefits on all eligible orders of $35 or more from Grocery Outlet, the grocer said.
“As consumers face rising prices, we're thrilled to partner with Grocery Outlet to provide consumers across the country with a new way to purchase more-affordable groceries while maximizing their budgets,” Shanna Prevé, VP of business development at DoorDash, said in a statement. “With this partnership, consumers can find and enjoy even more affordable grocery selection on our marketplace.”
To incentivize trial, DashPass members will receive 30% off their Grocery Outlet order of $40 or more—up to a total value of $20, from Thursday through Aug. 24, Grocery Outlet said in a statement.
Grocery Outlet, which has more than 420 stores in eight states, recently celebrated the opening of its latest store at 2077 Ridge Ave. in Philadelphia.
