Grocery Outlet Partners With Uber on On-Demand Grocery Delivery
Customers across the West Coast can now shop through Uber, Uber Eats. Across the West Coast, customers of the Emeryville, Calif.-based discounter can now shop through Uber and Uber Eats.

Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. and Uber Technologies Inc. have joined forces to pilot on-demand and scheduled grocery delivery services to customers of Grocery Outlet's 72 stores across the West Coast, the companies announced May 19.
The announcement comes a little more than a month after Grocery Outlet announced it was expanding its grocery delivery partnership with Instacart to nearly 400 Grocery Outlet stores.
Through this partnership with Uber, Grocery Outlet customers in California, Oregon and Washington—including in Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and more—can shop through Uber and Uber Eats and have their items delivered on-demand, right to their door.
“We are excited about the long-term potential of our e-commerce initiative at Grocery Outlet and this new partnership with Uber,” said R.J. Sheedy, president of Grocery Outlet, in a release. “We think it’s important to make our great-value products available across another platform and to a greater audience, introducing Grocery Outlet to customers who may not have shopped with us before.”
Pilot customers will receive a zero-dollar delivery fee on their first Grocery Outlet order of $30 or more (available at select participating stores only). Uber One members will receive zero delivery fees on Grocery Outlet orders of at least $15.
“Our goal is to provide a reliable and affordable grocery delivery option that works for everyone, no matter your budget,” Oskar Hjertonsson, head of grocery for Uber, said in a news statement. “We see our partnership with Grocery Outlet as an opportunity to do just that by delivering customers the brands they like at the Grocery Outlet prices they love, on-demand, right to their door.”
Grocery Outlet, based in Emeryville, Calif., saw strong traffic trends in its fiscal second quarter as shoppers navigate inflation and higher food prices. The discounter has more than 410 stores in New Jersey, California, Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Idaho and Nevada.
