H-E-B of San Antonio broke ground on yet another store in the pipeline planned for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Spanning 118,000 square feet, the store will open in 2023 in McKinney on the northeast corner of Custer Road and Eldorado Parkway. Reinforcing its commitment to serve more customers in this dynamic and growing part of Texas, this will be the third store located north of Dallas, H-E-B said.

“We are thrilled to be breaking ground on our third store in Collin County in the vibrant community of McKinney,” said Juan-Carlos Rück, EVP of North West Food Drug for H-E-B, in a statement.

In H-E-B’s spirit of giving, and to mark the ground breaking of the McKinney store, the company announced it will be donating $10,000 each to the following nonprofit organizations: Seed Project Foundation, Community Garden Kitchen, Love Life Foundation, Hugs Cafe and City Church.

“Our company, just like the city of McKinney, has a rich history in Texas," said Rück. "We have a passion and commitment to serve the cities in which we operate. We look forward to adding more than 500 McKinney partners to our H-E-B family and giving back to organizations that help this area thrive.”

As part of its commitment to tackling a new market in the Lone Star State, H-E-B said the exterior design of the new McKinney store will feature a modern, distinctive character, designed to integrate into the McKinney community and also include a tree preserve located between the store and residential neighbors.

The store will have a dedicated curbside zone in back, a fuel station with car wash, pharmacy drive-thru and a True Texas BBQ, H-E-B’s lauded barbecue restaurant that was named best barbecue chain in Texas by Texas Monthly and top barbecue chain in the nation by Thrillist.

With more than 116 years of serving communities across the state, H-E-B is one of the largest privately held companies in Texas, with $32 billion in annual sales and more than 420 stores across Texas and Mexico.
