Hannaford Supermarkets will open the doors to its new store in Blue Hill, Maine, on Friday. This opening mark’s Hannaford’s 186th grocery store, including 65 in Maine.
Located at 15 South Street, the grand opening comes on the heels of Hannaford’s March acquisition of the store, which formerly operated as Tradewinds Marketplace and was supplied and supported by the Scarborough, Maine-based grocer.
“We are excited to officially become part of this wonderful community and to expand on our longtime commitment to bringing Blue Hill the highest-quality fresh food, as well as the exceptional service that goes hand-in-hand with the Hannaford banner,” said Hannaford Supermarkets VP of Retail Operations Todd Bullen in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming shoppers to the new store and encourage them to join us as we celebrate this addition to the community.”
The new store will offer Hannaford’s store-brand offerings such as Taste of Inspirations, Hannaford and Nature’s Promise, as well as the My Hannaford Rewards loyalty program.
During the grand opening weekend from Friday through Sunday, My Hannaford Rewards shoppers will receive 4% rewards on all private brand purchases at the store.
At the height of the summer season, the store will employ close to 120 full- and part-time associates and operate seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the retailer said.
Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent of Hannaford, in February reported U.S. same-store sales (excluding gas) increased by 9.3% in the company's fourth fiscal quarter of 2022. Hannaford, alongside the Ahold Delhaize USA banner Food Lion, continued to lead brand performance with double-digit comparable sales growth for the quarter.
Hannaford Supermarkets was founded in Portland, Maine, in 1883 and now operates stores in Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
