Harps Food Stores, Inc. will host a grand opening of its newly remodeled grocery store in Jay, Oklahoma, on March 22, the Springdale, Arkansas-based grocery retailer announced on Thursday.

The 25,000-square-foot store will be located at 1107 South Main Street, which was formerly a Walmart, the grocer said.

The new store, which has undergone an extensive renovation, features an updated interior as well as online ordering and a curbside pickup option on its website for its shoppers at shop.harpsfood.com.

“The remodel of the Harps store was a significant investment in the store’s future, and it is the result of the company’s commitment to providing the best overall shopping experience to their valued customers,” the grocery retailer said in a statement.

Shoppers at the revamped store will have access to a variety of produce, Harps Black Angus beef, a wide selection of all-natural pork and poultry, deli and signature bakery products, as well as well-stocked grocery, health and beauty care, dairy, and frozen departments.

Earlier this week, the grocery retailer announced it will open its third Ace Hardware store owned and operated by Harps Food Stores next to the remodeled grocery store.  In 2020, Harps expanded beyond food into hardware to help grow sales. The other two Ace Hardware locations are in Charleston, Arkansas, and Dexter, Missouri. The 9,648-square-foot hardware store will open on March 20.

Last year, Harps named J. Max Van Hoose president and Newsweek Magazine ranked Harps Food Stores the third-best supermarket retailer in the nation based on its consumer poll.

“J. Max has demonstrated his value to Harps in a great many ways during his tenure as EVP, and I am very happy to see this well-deserved promotion take place,” said Kim Eskew, chairman and CEO of Harps, in a statement last year announcing Max’s appointment.

Employee-owned Harps operates 143 stores in six states: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Kansas. Founded by Harvard and Floy Harp in Springdale, Arkansas, in 1930, the company now employs more than 7,200 associates.
