Kroger’s Harris Teeter division plans to reopen a remodeled unit in Charlotte, N.C., next week with modern amenities—and an old-time look.

The 34,000-square-foot store in the Park Road Shopping Center was closed throughout 2020 undergoing a major renovation. It will reopen Jan. 13, the Matthews, N.C.-based company announced last week. New interior features are to include store-made sausage, burgers and kabobs and pizza; a beer and wine bar; and fresh sushi. The exterior is a nod to the store’s Reagan-era birth and will feature a “throwback” logo and signage and a red-and-white color scheme, including the “HT” oval.

The store at 4101 Park Road opened as a Harris Teeter in 1984, shortly after acquiring a Big Star store at the same site.  The store originally opened under the Colonial banner in 1956, according to a history published at the Groceteria website.

Harris Teeter said it would celebrate the reopening by awarding every 100th VIC card transaction at the store from Jan. 13-19 with an instant coupon valid for free groceries in the amount of the transaction, up to $500.

In each of its stores, Harris Teeter strives to offer customers an excellent shopping experience, which begins with customer service and features high-quality products, variety and selection. Harris Teeter also works to be a true community partner by supporting local food banks, youth sports organizations and local schools, among other nonprofit organizations.
