Kroger Co. subsidiary Harris Teeter announced the retirement of its President Rod Antolock, and the appointment of Harris Teeter SVP Tammy DeBoer to succeed him. The moves are effective Feb. 1, 2022.

Antolock joined Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter in 2000 and has served as president since 2015, according to a Kroger news release. His tenure has included multiple executive roles leading teams in operations, merchandising, marketing, loss prevention, store development and beyond. Before joining Harris Teeter, Antolock worked for more than 20 years at Albertsons Cos.

DeBoer, currently Harris Teeter's SVP of merchandising, operations and marketing, joined Harris Teeter in 2020 from Dollar Tree-owned Family Dollar, where she served as EVP and chief merchandising officer. DeBoer previously held leadership roles in merchandising and operations during 19 years with Ahold Delhaize.

DeBoer's "broad and deep experience, including brand transformation, merchandising, operations and more, make her a true asset to Harris Teeter and the leading choice to assume the role of president," Kroger SVP of Operations Mary Ellen Adcock said in the news release. DeBoer has been named to multiple lists of leading and influential women executives in the grocery industry, Kroger noted.

Kroger President and CEO Rodney McMullen praised the retiring Antolock's commitment to customer service and quality, saying Antolock's leadership has been instrumental to the growth and success of the Harris Teeter banner for more than two decades.

"During his time with Harris Teeter," Kroger's news release stated, "Antolock led the development of the company's 'Service Excellence' customer engagement model and introduced new ways of operating, including a new urban upscale model, expanded store format and a model store walk concept." Under Antolock's leadership, the company added, Harris Teeter expanded into new markets in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area and Delaware. The company now operates 258 stores in seven states and Washington, D.C., and employs approximately 35,000 associates.
