Hy-Vee to Open Second Springfield, Mo., Location

West Des Moines, Iowa-based supermarket chain Hy-Vee said it will open its second location in Springfield, Mo., on Feb. 22.

The store, which will be located at 2150 E. Sunshine St., will be similar to Hy-Vee's first "entirely reimagined" flagship grocery store that opened last fall in Grimes, Iowa. That store features a large, open dining area and a food hall that offers Hy-Vee's own recently launched breakfast menu as well as a pub with a full bar, several fast-casual concepts and an outpost of Wahlburgers. 

The new Springfield store will be 93,000 square feet and feature several new departments. “This location also has an accompanying Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh convenience store on the west side of the parking lot offering fresh on-the-go meal offerings, a Market Grille Express and select grocery staples including fresh produce and fresh bakery items," the Midwest grocer said in a statement.

The store will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week and will carry about 142,000 items. The Fast & Fresh will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

The regional grocery store, which is looking to extend beyond its Midwestern borders, will also start filming a dating show on Helpful Smiles TV network (HSTV), Hy-Vee’s digital streaming platform.

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, the first season of the show, "Love at First Bite," includes eight episodes around 10 minutes long and that different couples will be cast in each episode.

In a Facebook post, Helpful Smiles TV asked its followers, if “you're single and ready to find the recipe for love, this is your chance to get cast on a brand-new dating show. We'll pair you with an eligible date, and the two of you will go grocery shopping, prepare and enjoy a meal together. It just might end up being Love at First Bite.”
