Ingles Markets announced Sept. 25 a third round of bonus pay as it continues to recognize and support associates for their efforts during the COVID-19 crisis. The move comes as several major retailers have ended the practice and as the UFCW calls for retailers to continue or reinstate bonus pay.

The first appreciation bonus for employees of the Asheville, N.C.-based food retailer was given April 1, shortly after the pandemic was declared a national emergency, followed by a second round in June.

As part of this latest round, to be paid out in mid-November, $300 will be given to full-time active retail, distribution and corporate associates who were hired on or before July 24, 2020; part-time associates will receive $150.

“Our associates have made a difference during this unprecedented time. We are incredibly proud of them and wish to show appreciation for their efforts,” said Robert P. Ingle II, chairman of the board, in a release.

Ingles Markets operates 197 supermarkets in six southeastern states.
