Oprah Winfrey surprised volunteers working with The Kroger Co.'s Zero Hunger, Zero Waste campaign in the retailer's hometown of Cincinnati, helping them box up meals for school children at the Freestore Foodbank in honor of the initiative's one-year anniversary.
In addition to the 2,000 meals packed on-site, Oprah's new food line O, That's Good and Kroger teamed up to donate one million meals to Feeding America.

Oprah said she was honored to support the initiative and is committed to the fight against hunger because she has "seen the impact it has on people.
"That's why I wanted to be here today to help pack food for Cincinnati children facing hunger," she said. "The work Kroger is doing is special and meaningful."

Kroger Chairman and CEO Rodney McMullen called the joint project a "milestone" for its Zero Hunger, Zero Waste journey, adding that her involvement was "inspiring and energizing."
