Lidl U.S. is powering up its presence in Virginia.

The Arlington, Virginia-based hard discounter will open a new store in Chantilly, Virginia, on May 3, Lidl announced on Thursday. The approximately 29,000-square-foot store at 14445 Chantilly Crossing Lane is Lidl’s 33rd location in Virginia.

Lidl said it invested millions in this store, which will create more than 40 new jobs, with starting pay of $18 an hour and comprehensive benefits for all employees, including health care, Lidl said.

“I’m excited about Lidl opening their newest store in Chantilly,” said Sully District Supervisor Kathy Smith, in a statement. “This is a great addition for the community and with the approval of more residential units in the area Lidl will provide another grocery store option for the residents."

The ribbon cutting at the new Lidl is scheduled for 7:40 a.m., with doors opening to the public at 8 a.m. The first 100 customers in line before the ribbon cutting will be presented with a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each. Shoppers at the grand opening can also enter to win a $500 Lidl gift card and other planned giveaways.

Looking to connect with the residents in the area, Lidl said it will host an open house on May 2, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the community to tour the new store, sample products and more.

Lidl’s growth up and down the East Coast continued early this year as the grocer opened its largest and first ground-up build on Long Island, New York, in January. Located in Deer Park on Long Island at 450 Commack Road, Lidl invested over $12 million for this store, which is Lidl’s 24th location on Long Island.

Lidl, which is owned by the Schwarz Group, now operates more than 170 stores across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.
