Meijer’s demonstrated leadership and innovation in engaging its workforce has enabled it to earn a spot for the second year in a row on Achievers’ 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in North America.

“On behalf of all Meijer team members, we are humbled and honored to be recognized by Achievers as one of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces,” Meijer Chief Human Resource Officer Michael Rotelle said in a statement. “Collectively, we are driven by a common principle—to do what is right for our customers. As an organization, we cannot do that effectively without the guidance and feedback of our team members. Collaboration and engagement are vital to our existence. I am proud at the lengths our team members go to achieve this every day.”

Companies chosen for recognition among as a Top 50 Most Engaged Workplace excel at making “the employee experience, engagement and recognition the highest priority,” said Aris Zakinthinos, Achievers’ general manager. “The companies on this list serve as role models for other businesses by creating an engagement strategy that cultivates a high-performing workplace.”

A subsidiary of Blackhawk Network Holdings Inc., Achievers’ engaged workplace honorees were selected by a panel of judges made up of employee engagement academics, industry analysts, thought leaders, journalists and influencers. Applicants were evaluated on its eight elements of employee engagement: communication, leadership, culture, rewards and recognition, professional and personal growth, accountability and performance, vision and values, and corporate social responsibility.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer operates 240 supercenters and grocery stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
