Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer announced April 12 that it will open two new 155,000-square-foot supercenters—one in Fort Wayne, Ind., and the second in West Branch, Mich.—on May 12.

The supercenters will feature grocery, fresh produce, bakery, meat and deli, as well as a floral area and garden center. Other departments will include pharmacy, pets, electronics, toys, sports and apparel. Additionally, a Meijer Express gas station adjacent to both new stores will open on April 14.

“Local residents and new customers have been incredibly welcoming every time we open a store in our home state where the supercenter was born,” Jason Beauch, regional VP for Meijer, said in a statement. “Over the last two years, our store teams have helped families meet unprecedented challenges by providing fresh grocery options and supporting their pharmacy needs, so we look forward to opening the doors for our new neighbors in West Branch.”

Meijer, which has invested heavily in Indiana since opening its first store in 1994, said the new Fort Wayne store on Dupont Road will be its 41st store in the state.

The Midwest grocer said it will be planning special promotions and events at both locations following the supercenters’ openings.
