Natural Grocers is showing its Texas-based shoppers and suppliers some love with its "Natural Grocers has Gone Texan" campaign.

Officials with Lakewood, Colo.-based Natural Grocers said the campaign, which begins Sept. 28 at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, aims to show customers that although the retailer is not "native" it is "natural."

As part of the campaign, Natural Grocers will partner with Go Texan to support the Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and local products. The retailer will host weekly cooking demonstrations featuring Go Texas products each Saturday at the State Fair of Texas

Additionally, the retailer will give a 5% discount on local products for Npower loyalty members through March and continue to highlight local products beyond the fair with monthly in-store cooking demonstrations.

"Everything is bigger in Texas, so it just made sense for us to make an even bigger commitment to the Texas community with the launch of this campaign," said Kemper Isely, co-president of Natural Grocers.

Natural Grocers already works to bolster the local Texas market by stocking a wide variety of local products in all its Texas stores, and Isely said the launch of the campaign will help the retailer promote its Texas-based offerings by giving them "more visibility" in its marketing and merchandising channels at no additional cost to the suppliers, while in turn reducing costs for loyalty customers that purchase local products.

"It's a big win-win for all," he affirmed.

The following demonstrations will take place at the State Fair of Texas:

  • Sept. 29, noon to 2 p.m - Elevate Your Tailgate

  • Oct. 6, noon to 2 p.m - It's Zucchini Zoodle Time

  • Oct. 13, 4 to 6 p.m - Let's Taco 'Bout Organics

  • Oct. 20, 4 to 6 p.m - Got Chocolate?
