Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc. said its summer openings will include a new store in Idaho and a store in South Dakota—a first for the Lakewood, Colo.-based grocer.

The Idaho store will be located at 209 N. 3rd Street in McCall and the South Dakota location will be at 2601 S. Louise Ave. in Sioux Falls.

“When searching for new markets, we always look for areas in which we can serve the existing community. With its beautiful natural landscape, abundant outdoor activities and a vibrant cultural and food scene, Sioux Falls is a great fit for the first Natural Grocers store in South Dakota,” a spokesperson for Natural Grocers said in an email statement to WGB.

The grocer said the McCall store will be the fifth location in the state of Idaho, following locations in Boise, Idaho Falls, Coeur d’Alene and Hailey. “Natural Grocers has been serving customers with a wide range of natural and organic options since 1955 and specifically, the communities of Idaho since 2012," a spokesperson for Natural Grocers told WGB. "With such strong agricultural roots, vibrant cities and amazing outdoor recreation opportunities, it’s no surprise that the communities of Idaho have been immensely welcoming to Natural Grocers. We’re thrilled to bring our knowledgeable and friendly good4u Crew, world-class customer service, healthy recipes for all diets, high product standards to the people of McCall and its surrounding areas.”

The family-owned organic grocer said it will host a meet and greet for the McCall residents as well as a two-day hiring event April 27-28 at the Best Western Plus McCall Lodge & Suites. The spokesperson for Natural Grocers also mentioned the grocer is currently searching for a local food bank partner in the area. "We are thrilled to be coming to McCall and can't wait to meet our future employees,” said Senior Recruiter for Natural Grocers Michelle Hines in a statement.

Natural Grocers, which prides itself on offering the highest-quality natural and organic products, released its first environmental, social and governance (ESG) Report earlier this year, which outlines its standards and results related to building a healthy, sustainable future for its customers, employees and communities.

Celebrating Earth Day and Ladybug Love all month long, the Lakewood, Colo.-based grocer is also fundraising to benefit its nonprofit partner Beyond Pesticides, whose organization’s mission is transitioning parks and public spaces to being free of synthetic pesticide usage. Earth Day Deals for Npower members at Natural Grocers stores will be held April 22-24 the grocer said. Npower members also will have access to additional promotions throughout April.

Natural Grocers has more than 4,000 employees and operates more than 162 stores in 20 states.
