Publix Super Markets is continuing its aggressive growth outside its home state of Florida.

“We are pleased to announce that Publix Super Markets has executed a lease on a new store location in Goose Creek, South Carolina,” Publix Media Relations Manager Jared Glover said in a statement on Thursday.

Located at The Market Place at Carnes Crossroads in the Charleston suburb of Goose Creek, the new store will be 48,000 square feet and is expected to open in 2025.

The Florida-based grocery retailer on Tuesday reported on its second quarter results, which saw net earnings up close to 75%. The employee-owned grocer reported net earnings for the quarter ended July 1, were $1.1 billion, compared to $628 million in 2022.

With more than 250,000 associates, Publix now operates 1,346 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

Kentucky is the next state for the fast-growing Florida retailer's portfolio—a market dominated by long-established retailers Kroger and Walmart.

Last month, Publix launched Hello, Kentucky website for those interested in staying up to date with the details of the highly anticipated 55,701-square-foot store in the Terra Crossing Shopping Center in Louisville that's slated to open later this year. The new store in Kentucky will mark Publix’s expansion into its eighth state.
