Publix Super Markets is expanding its brick-and-mortar store count in Virginia.

“We are pleased to announce that Publix Super Markets will open a new store location in Carrollton, Virginia,” Publix Media Relations Manager Jared Glover said in a statement on Monday.

Publix at Bartlett Station will be located at 22449 Spadea Way. The store will be 48,387 square feet and is expected to open early 2024.

Last month, the Florida-based grocer announced its geographic expansion in Virginia with a new store planned for Chesapeake at Dominion Station at the northeast corner of Cedar Road and Dominion Boulevard. The store will be 48,387 square feet and is expected to open early 2025.

The Florida-based grocery retailer operates 19 stores in Virginia, according to its website, which also lists a new store “coming soon” at Planters Station at 3189 Godwin Blvd. in Suffolk, Virginia.

In its home state, Publix Super Markets continues to redevelop and renovate stores across northeast Florida.

Last month, Publix reopened its Daytona Beach, Florida, location at the Shoppes of Beville Road. The almost 47,000-square-foot store located at 1500 Beville Rd. replaces an older Publix grocery store that was torn down a year ago.

Jacksonville, Florida, local media reported that the supermarket chain’s Harbour Place location at 13170 Atlantic Boulevard will close on Saturday to build a new store on-site.

Employee-owned Publix, which saw its net earnings surge more than 100% during its first quarter, is showing now signs of slowing when it comes to new store growth in existing and new market territories.

The grocery retailer will open its first store in Kentucky later this year. To acquaint Kentuckians with Publix, the supermarket chain launched its Hello, Kentucky website last Wednesday. The site provides details on the first Kentucky Publix location, heading to the Terra Crossing Shopping Center in Louisville.

Publix employs more than 240,000 associates and operates more than 1,340 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
