Redner’s Reintroduces Pandemic Wage Increase

Reading, Pa.-based Redner’s Markets announced Jan. 18 the reintroduction of a pandemic wage increase for hourly associates across its Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware stores. The temporary increase of $1 an hour took effect the week ending Jan. 15.

“We are adding the temporary pay to recognize the extraordinary efforts of our front-line associates as they continue to work through extremely difficult circumstances,” Redner’s VP of Human Resources Robert McDonough said in a release. “Labor shortages and COVID-related absence and illness continue to plague our business, and those that are still out there on the front lines have earned the added pay. The Redner family felt this was only appropriate way to thank our associates for their dedicated service and commitment to making Redner’s a great place to work and shop.”

Redner's introduced an initial pandemic wage increase in March 2020, and that was in place through July 2020, a spokesperson told WGB.

The employee-owned company, which celebrated 50 years in 2020, operates 44 grocery stores and 21 Quick Shops throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
