STAMFORD, Conn. — Retail businesses using Heartland Payment Systems and RBS WorldPay to process credit card payments should continue to do, said Avivah Litan, an analyst for Gartner here.
The two processors both experienced major data security breaches and were removed from the list of Payment Card Industry (PCI) certified service providers by Visa.
However, in a recent statement to Gartner, Visa said that card acceptors using the processors “will not be subject to noncompliance fine assessments if all other standing PCI Data Security Standard validation requirements have been satisfied,” wrote Litan in a recent Gartner release. “The processors will likely be recertified soon,” she added.
Visa’s statement “clarifies much of the confusion that arose after Heartland and RBS WorldPay were removed from Visa’s list of PCI-certified service providers,” she noted.
