Retailers Seeking Master Data Management Systems: Study

Among the technology applications considered most important to fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) retailers in 2008, master data management ranked the highest (19%), according to a study done by AMR Research here.

BOSTON — Among the technology applications considered most important to fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) retailers in 2008, master data management ranked the highest (19%), according to a study done by AMR Research here. “Although it was near the bottom of the list of priorities in 2007, FMCG retailers now recognize the need for using current, consistent, clean and accurate data generated inside and outside their organizations,” said the study, called “Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Retailers Are Becoming More Demand-Driven — Are You?” FMCG retailers in the study included grocery (46%), chain drug (28%) and convenience/fuel (26%). Computer-generated ordering and perpetual inventory rated second in the study at 14%.
