Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Mas and Harveys Supermarket, will open a new Palm Beach County Winn-Dixie location on March 2 as part of its continued growth throughout the Sunshine State.

The new Westlake Winn-Dixie will be located at 5060 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road in the Grove Market Shopping Center. Southeastern Grocers said in a statement that it “will use a specialized approach to the store to provide fresh concepts and extensive offerings, along with additional jobs and opportunities for local community members.”

“As we begin a new year, we are continuing our commitment to expansion throughout our home state of Florida,” Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said in a statement. “The retail landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade, and we believe now is the time to bolster our presence in Palm Beach County and introduce our newest store in Florida’s newest city. We look forward to being a store our Westlake community can always count on for years to come.

Southeastern Grocers said it has renewed more than 70% of all stores throughout the grocer’s Southeast footprint to further “enhance the shopping experience for its customers.”

The company said this latest opening will continue its expansion throughout the state of Florida, following the opening of new St. Augustine Shores and Viera locations last year.

In 2020, Southeastern Grocers opened eight new Winn-Dixie stores in the Sunshine State. The locations are in Boynton Beach, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Lakewood Ranch, Lake Mary, West Melbourne and two locations in Jacksonville.

Last fall, the grocer debuted its new stand-alone WDs Wine, Beer and Liquor in Jacksonville. The new concept is the first location in the company’s Southeast footprint and serves as a destination for fine wine, craft beer and quality liquor, with a wide range of premium products for entertaining and eating at home.

As grocery prices across the U.S. continue to climb, last month Winn-Dixie announced it wants to offer customers a different route with its “Down Down” program, in which the Southeastern subsidiary has lowered prices on over 150 most-shopped items.

“At Winn-Dixie, we know our customers are searching for the best deals and continuing to save money on their grocery bills is a top priority,” said Dewayne Rabon, chief merchandising officer for Southeastern Grocers. “Through our commitment to lowering prices and keeping them down on the items our customers love most, we hope to make a truly meaningful difference in our customers’ lives. When our customers shop our stores, they can trust they are getting quality products at affordable prices.”

The company said upcoming ribbon-cutting plans for the new Winn-Dixie and festivities for customers will be announced to the Westlake community ahead of grand opening day.
