On the heels of its recently announced Chapter 11 financial restructuring, as well as the closures of 94 underperforming stores, Southeastern Grocers is expanding its Hispanic banner, Fresco y Mas, with three new Florida locations in Orlando and Tampa.
The Fresco y Mas banner caters to the unique tastes and needs of Hispanic communities, offering authentic items and amenities. Introduced in 2016 as a conversion option for stores serving Hispanic neighborhoods, the banner has been widely successful, with sources saying the transition likely kept some stores from closing. Just one Fresco y Mas location made it on the company’s recently announced closing list.
“Our customer and associate responses to Fresco y Mas have been extremely positive and we’ve been successful in tailoring each Fresco y Mas store to the need of the individual communities,” said Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers, in a statement. “We are confident that now is the time to introduce Fresco y Mas into Central and West Florida neighborhoods and offer those customers an authentic Hispanic grocery store experience. We are excited to give our loyal customers a store they can count on while providing exceptional service and quality products.”
The new Fresco y Mas stores will open in April, featuring hundreds of new Hispanic items, at the following locations:
8424 Sheldon Road, Tampa, FL 33615
4056 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, FL 33607
7382 E. Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32822
The new store additions bring the Fresco y Mas banner to a total of 25 locations.
The parent company of Bi-Lo, Fresco y Mas, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores, Southeastern Grocers serves communities throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
