SpartanNash Appoints 2 Independent Directors

Mickey Foret and Timothy O’Donovan will conclude board terms following company’s annual meeting on May 23. Former Dean Foods CEO Gregg Tanner and former Prestige Brands president Matthew Mannelly have joined the retailer's board.

Matthew Mannelly and Gregg Tanner have joined SpartanNash as independent members of its board of directors, while Mickey Foret and Timothy O’Donovan will conclude their board terms following the company’s annual meeting on May 23, 2018, and will not stand for re-election.

Mannelly is the retired president, CEO and board member of Prestige Brands. He has experience in consumer products, packaged goods, and sports and fitness apparel. Tanner is the retired CEO of Dean Foods and has extensive experience in the food industry in leading business organizations. He also serves on the board of directors of SunOpta Inc. and The Boston Beer Co.

Dennis Eidson, chairman of the board of SpartanNash, expressed confidence in Mannelly's and Tanner's "wealth of experience, retail and wholesale expertise, independent perspectives and excellent judgment. Among many other attributes, Gregg brings expertise in supply chain management, and Matthew has extensive experience in marketing and consumer products," Eidson said in a statement. 

Having served as a director of SpartanNash since its merger with Nash-Finch Co. in 2013, Foret currently chairs the audit committee and previously served as a director of Nash-Finch since 2005. O’Donovan has served as a member of the board of directors since 2003 and currently serves as the lead independent director.

“Mickey and Tim have each made enormous contributions to the growth and success of SpartanNash,” said Eidson, who further expressed gratitude "for their many contributions over the years."
