For all of its customers' Super Bowl/Valentine's Day/it's-too-cold-and-snowy-to-go-to-the-store food and beverage needs, SpartanNash is offering free grocery delivery this February on orders of $35 or more.

Orders must be placed online via SpartanNash's Fast Lane website (www.shopthefastlane.com) or mobile app; free delivery is available from company-owned stores under the Family Fare, VG's Grocery, Dan's Supermarket, D&W Fresh Market and Forest Hills Foods banners.

All items will be priced the same online as in-store, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer and distributor emphasized in a news release. Beer, wine and liquor are available for online order, as well, where permitted by law.

Orders are fulfilled by SpartanNash shoppers who communicate by text about out-of-stocks, substitutions and item preferences, such as fruit ripeness or the thickness of a cut of meat, the company noted, adding that shoppers are "trained to select items with the latest expiration date and to diligently inspect all products for integrity."

"We are pleased to offer quick and convenient home delivery for our guests who may be looking to avoid driving during wintry weather conditions or who want to stay safe at home during the pandemic," said SpartanNash SVP and Chief Marketing Officer Amy McClellan, who was recently promoted from VP of fresh merchandising.

SpartanNash, which recently has started referring to itself as a "food solutions company" in a nod to its multiple (retail, distribution and military) grocery business segments, saw its retail stores lead the way for the company throughout 2021. In the company's most recently reported fiscal quarter (Q3 2021), retail comp sales were up 3.1% over the same period in 2020 and were up 13.5% on a two-year stack. Net retail sales rose 2% to $608.7 million in the quarter. SpartanNash is expected to release fourth-quarter 2021 earnings in February.
