Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets announced April 28 plans to open its fourth United Family store in Wichita Falls, Texas. The company currently has two other United Supermarkets in the city, as well as a Market Street.

The new store, expected to open in early 2023, will be located at 2720 Southwest Parkway (the site of a former Cash Saver that reportedly closed in 2019) and feature a full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru window; Streetside, United’s grocery pickup service; and a Ready Meals section, with fresh foods that are ready to heat, ready to eat or ready to cook.

In addition to a full-service deli and hot bar, the store will also offer fresh sushi and have an in-store bakery, where guests can order custom cakes and find fresh bakery items, and an extensive craft beer and wine selection.

In announcing the new store, United Family President Sidney Hopper reflected on the long relationship between the company and the community, with the first store opening in Wichita Falls almost 60 years ago.

“United first came to Wichita Falls in 1963, and we have greatly enjoyed that partnership,” Hopper said. “Wichita Falls was also the location of the first Market Street in our company back in 1998 and today, we are glad to announce that we will open our fourth store at this location. It is a great community to serve.”

The new store is expected to add about 200 jobs to the Wichita Falls community.

“United Supermarkets continues to invest in Wichita Falls, whether it is supporting efforts with the Food Bank, the arts community or education,” Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Whiteley said in a release. “Many of our youth have gotten their first job sacking groceries at a United or Market Street store. This new store will bring jobs and expand the commerce in this neighborhood with a completely renovated building. It is great for Wichita Falls.”

In its 106th year of operation, United Supermarkets (dba The United Family) operates 96 stores in 54 communities in Texas and New Mexico under five banners: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, Albertsons Market and United Express. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Albertsons Cos.
