Walmart Continues to Expand Grocery Delivery Service

Walmart Inc. has partnered with four new delivery companies to help expand its e-commerce offerings. 

By partnering with Point Pickup, Skipcart, AxleHire and Roadie, the retailer said it would now be able to operate grocery delivery in new metro areas across four states, with further expansion plans to be revealed in the coming weeks. 

All four of the companies provide last-mile solutions such as delivery drivers and tracking. 

Tom Ward, SVP of digital operations for Walmart, Bentonville, Ark., said the move will help busy consumers keep a few extra dollars in their pockets. 

“With the help of these new delivery partners, we’re making grocery shopping even easier by bringing the everyday low prices of Walmart right to the front door of customers," he said. 

Grocery delivery is now available at 2,100 Walmart stores with 1,000 more to be added this year. The retailer also recently added grocery delivery at its University of Arkansas Walmart on Campus store, where it will deliver orders straight to students' dorms and is testing autonomous delivery vehicles.
