Weis Markets Promotes Matt Burke to Regional VP

25-year grocery veteran to oversee day-to-day operations at 67 stores. The 25-year grocery veteran succeeds the retiring Jimmy Daly at the regional grocer.

Weis Markets announced it has promoted Matt Burke to regional vice president. He will oversee day-to-day operations of 67 stores in northeastern Pennsylvania; the Poconos region and the Central Susquehanna Valley in Pennsylvania; Northern New Jersey; and Binghamton, N.Y.

Burke succeeds Jimmy Daly, who retired. He will report to David Gose, SVP of operations.

“Matt brings a wealth of experience in building associate engagement and leading successful teams while achieving strong business results. We look forward to working with him in his new role,” said Kurt Schertle, chief operating officer of Weis Markets. “We’d also like to thank Jimmy Daly for his years of service and for the leadership he provided during his time with our company. We wish him well in the years ahead.”

Burke joined Weis Markets in 2016 as a district manager for the Central Susquehanna Valley/Sunbury area in central Pennsylvania. He has more than 25 years of store and multiunit retail management experience, including 16 years at Walmart. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Morehead State University in Kentucky.
