Grill Master Kevin Kolman to Compete in USA Onion Grill Off

Weber Grill Master and grilling celebrity, Kevin Kolman, will participate in the USA Onions pre-game Boise State/Wyoming grilling competition on November 16, 2013. The USA Onion Grill Off, sponsored by USA Onions, will feature Idaho vs. Oregon onion growers grilling “Onions and Elk.” The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Ford Fan Zone at Bronco Stadium with grilled onion samples, a Weber grill giveaway sweepstakes, a visit from the USA Onion mascot and special guest Kevin Koleman providing expert grilling tips and techniques to the crowd. At 6:00 p.m., Idaho and Oregon onion grower teams will fire up their grills for a sizzling head-to-head BBQ battle. Both teams will grill up their own special recipe for onions and elk under the watchful eye of Weber Grill Master Kolman. According to USA Onions marketing director Sherise Jones, “This is the fifth in a series of six Grill Offs the Committee hosts at Boise State Bronco home games.  It is one of our most highly anticipated events because of Weber Grill Master Koleman’s participation. Kolman is an expert in his field and what better way to highlight USA Onions than with his guest appearance.” To prepare for his guest appearance at the event, Kolman will be taking a VIP tour of “Onion Country, USA” located just west of Boise, in Southwest Idaho and Eastern Oregon.  Koleman will get a firsthand look at the state-of-the-art storage methods and techniques used to grow some of the world’s most desired onions. Kolman is Weber’s go-to guy for all grilling techniques, products, and questions. As Weber’s Grill Master, Kevin inspires average grillers to become backyard heroes through his how-to videos and blogs. Kevin has a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Science degree in college student affairs. Kevin is a highly skilled Grill Master and brand enthusiast, due to his extensive hands-on testing and scrutiny of Weber products, accessories, and cooking. Helping people discover new ways to grill on their Weber energizes Kevin and fuels his passion for all things Weber on his Weber blog.

USA Grill Off is an event series to the Boise State pre-game activities on the Ford Fan Zone at Bronco Stadium and has become a pre-game hit at the Boise State home games, with changing themes and grill items at each separate event. USA Onions is the branding identity for the Idaho-Eastern Oregon Onion Committee, representing 36 shippers and 300 onion growers that ship over one billion pounds of onions from the region. The Grill Off is designed to increase USA Onion consumption, encourage healthy grilling and provide the ultimate football tailgating experience.
