The Houston Food Bank recently received more than 1.3 million pounds of fresh produce in a donation from the Houston Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association. The gift is an annual tradition for the HFFVA; for 18 years, the organization has made a large gift of produce for distribution during the holidays to the food bank's more than 400 member agencies. At a ceremony at the city's Minute Maid Park, Houston Astros star pitcher Roger Clemens thanked the produce association before a crowd that included former President George H.W. Bush and other dignitaries. Donated produce filled up 41 tractor-trailer trucks.
