Hollandia Produce, grower and shipper of Live Gourmet and Grower Pete’s brands of living lettuce and leafy greens, has earned a perfect score on its Primus GFS certification audit, recently conducted by Primus Laboratories.

PrimusGFS is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized audit scheme for the certification of produce sector products – from the growing operations to minimally processed (fresh-cut) produce products.

“We are very proud of this achievement,” says Pete Overgaag, CEO for Hollandia. “Food safety is at the foundation of everything we do. This score reinforces our staff’s commitment to adhere to food safety training and related policies and procedures and underscores our ability to deliver competitively superior products that exceed customer expectations.” The Primus audit covered various stages of Hollandia Produce’s operation, including pre- and post-harvest activities, cooling, packing, processing and storing, and assessed the company’s compliance in three key areas: Food Safety Management, Good Agriculture Practices (GAP)/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Hollandia Produce received a 100% compliance score across all sectors. “Earning this GFSI certification further strengthens our ‘valued vendor’ status with our channel partners,” says Vincent Choate, director of marketing. “Moreover, food safety program certification and verification reinforces our commitment to transparency and our promise to deliver only the freshest, safest and most nutritious Live Gourmet and Grower Pete’s products we can grow.”
