YOPLAIT NEW YOPLAIT(R) GREEK logo in a gray background | YOPLAIT NEW YOPLAIT(R) GREEKYoplait has answered the call for a Greek yogurt that delights on all levels and goes beyond the typical Greek yogurt experience, company officials say.  The brand with a “legacy of excellent taste” and flavor variety introduces its new blended Yoplait Greek yogurt. While a growing number of yogurt eaters have gone Greek – with Greek yogurt currently representing 43% of the overall U.S. yogurt category – Yoplait found that people are primarily choosing the snack for its thick texture and health benefits.  But as palettes continue to evolve, consumers are looking for more from their snack experience. "After talking with thousands of people, what we consistently heard was that while people enjoy the thickness and protein from other Greek yogurts, they were still searching for a great taste experience," says Liza Dopp, Yoplait Greek marketing manager. To satisfy people's call for a great-tasting Greek yogurt, Yoplait developed this brand new offering that promises to deliver impeccable taste. Yoplait Greek features a strained, special blend of slow-fermenting cultures with real fruit pieces blended in. The creamy Yoplait Greek gives Greek yogurt lovers a blended taste experience, in addition to the thickness and protein they have come to expect from Greek yogurt. "Taste wasn't the only thing we heard from people.  It was clear that fruit mix-ins and fruit-on-the-bottom weren't the ideal way for people to eat Greek yogurt," adds Dopp. "We also observed people stirring their cups before eating, so it became clear that a blended product was what they wanted." The new blended Yoplait Greek builds on the success of Yoplait Greek 100, a strained, 100-calorie Greek yogurt offering introduced last year to fill the need for a lower-calorie flavored Greek yogurt in the dairy aisle.  As Yoplait® Greek 100 rose in popularity; the brand took a closer look at what else people were looking for from current Greek yogurt offerings. New blended Yoplait Greek is available in six flavors including Blueberry, Strawberry-Raspberry, Tangerine, Coconut, Pineapple and Vanilla.  Each cup is made with simple ingredients – using natural colors, flavors and sweeteners – and real pieces of fruit.  In addition, each 5.3 oz. serving delivers 100% more protein than regular yogurt, contains 150 calories or less per serving – and 0 percent fat, company officials say. In August of this year, yogurt lovers can also enjoy the newest flavor of Yoplait Greek 100, Strawberry-Banana, as well as Vanilla in convenient multi-packs. Yoplait Greek 100 – the only Greek yogurt endorsed by Weight Watchers – is available in 5.3 oz. single serve cups with a PointsPlus value of 2 per serving. Yoplait Greek will be available nationwide in August 2013, with a suggested retail price of $1.29 per 5.3 oz. cup.
