Inspiring a new generation to embrace fresh fruits and vegetables, C&S Wholesale Grocers of Keene, N.H., and its retail partners—ShurSave Markets and ShurSave Independent Supermarkets—are offering shoppers the opportunity to join the Produce for Kids Club when they make a fresh produce purchase through Oct. 9.

Every time shoppers in these stores purchase fresh produce, a code is automatically generated on their receipt with an invite to go to produceforkids.com/kidsclub  to receive a free packet filled with puzzles, games and other items to make eating fresh produce fun for the entire family. The Produce for Kids Club website also allows shoppers to browse registered dietitian-approved recipes and ideas for eating a nutritious diet.

“The Produce for Kids Club is a great way to keep connected to these shoppers after they leave the store,” said Trish James, VP of Produce for Kids, Orlando, Fla., in a release. “Seeing in-store signage sparks an interest, but keeping that conversation going after families arrive home is key.”

Produce for Kids also will be making a $1,000 donation to two local food banks, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank, to benefit programs that support children and families.

“We are excited to provide shoppers with the opportunity to understand the benefits of adding fresh fruits and vegetables to their diets in a new and fun way,” Debra Heverling, corporate dietitian for C&S Wholesale Grocers, said in a statement. “The Produce for Kids Club is educating the next generation of shoppers about the importance of consuming the right foods for a long and healthy life.”

Stores participating in the C&S Wholesale Grocers’ Produce for Kids Club include independent retail members of the ShurSave Markets banner (Carone’s Freeland, Carone’s Market Mountaintop, Dutch’s Market, Gerrity’s Supermarkets, Gould’s, Jim Thorpe Market, Mountain Fresh Market, Quinn’s Markets, Rob’s Market, Scarfalloto’s Market and Schiel’s Family Markets) and ShurSave Independent Supermarkets banner (G&E, Hocker’s Super Center, Lauer’s Supermarket and Bakery, Nell’s Market Fresh Foods and Sandy Ridge Market).
